About All Star Cheer
Currently all-star cheerleading as sanctioned by the USASF involves a squad of 6-36 females and/or males. The squad prepares year-round for many different competition appearances, but they only actually perform for up to 2½ minutes during their routines. The numbers of competitions a team participates in varies from team to team, but generally, most teams tend to participate in eight-twelve competitions a year.
During a competition routine, a squad performs carefully choreographed stunting, tumbling, jumping and dancing to their own custom music. Teams create their routines to an eight-count system and apply that to the music so the team members execute the elements with precise timing and synchronization.
All-star cheerleaders are placed into divisions, which are grouped based upon age, size of the team, and ability level. The age levels vary from under 6 year of age to 18 years.
Patriots All Star Squads
All American provides the cheer program with a 54×42, 9 panel spring floor. Patriots is the name of the all-star competitive program at All American. The goal in our all-star cheerleading program is to train cheerleaders to compete at the highest possible competitive level according to the skill and ability of each squad. We hold our squads to a high standard as it relates to respect and integrity, especially in the areas of our dress, choreography, and attitude. In short, we strive for excellence in all that we do. We have multiple all-star squads ages 6 – 18. The program is new and with the hard work and talent of our coaches combined with the hard work and talent of our cheerleaders we have produced a winning combination. We invite you to be a part of this AWESOME group of cheerleaders.
Try-Outs
Students are chosen through a “tryout” process to be placed on a squad. Tryouts for All Star Squads are held in early May of each year. Everyone makes a team. If you have missed tryouts – don’t worry. It is sometimes possible to make a team later in the year through a private tryout. Space on squads could be very limited due to age or type of cheerleader (flyer, base, etc…) that is needed. Please call 732-493-9455 if you have any questions or to arrange a private tryout.
Commitment
The Patriots believe there is a difference between interest and commitment. When you are interested in doing something, you do it when circumstances permit. When you are committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.
The team practices two days a week (Wednesday and Sunday) and has one mandatory tumbling day in which you can pick the day. It is important to understand that not being at practice or competition, not only hurts you, but also, the other members of the team.
